Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple and its longtime CEO, announced he was taking a medical leave about a month ago. Now Radar Online is reporting that it is because Jobs is seeking radical treatment for cancer at the Stanford Cancer Center in Palo Alto, CA.
The Stanford Cancer Center is also the place where actor Patrick Swayze sought treatment before his death in 2009.
Furthermore, the National Enquirer's next issue features pictures (here via Gizmodo) of a "skeletal-looking" Jobs outside the clinic, though it's pretty hard to tell if that's actually Jobs or not. Jobs had been previously diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer, an islet cell neuroendocrine tumor, in 2004. The tabloid is also giving Jobs "six weeks to live."
Take all this with a grain of salt. While the National Enquirer has broken stories like the John Edwards affair, the pictures are really inconclusive, though Radar Online did confirm that Jobs is seeking cancer treatment.
We don't expect this will stop Jobs from performing as many of his Apple duties as he is able, as he said when he took a medical leave, "I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company."
