A series of recently released tapes showing the former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, revealing that her husband, John F. Kennedy was very concerned about the possibility that the then Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson to become president of all time.
Series of oral interviews, recorded in 1964, the historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., the former Mrs. Kennedy shares in the months before her murder, her husband met with his brother, Robert, to discuss possible ways to circumvent the Johnson presidency, after his second term:
Bobby later told me and I know that Jack told me sometimes. He said, "Oh, my God, can you imagine what would happen if the country was President Lyndon? Not like the idea that Lyndon would continue and be president, because he was worried by the country. Bobby told me he had some discussions with him. I do not remember exactly how they were planning or had in mind. It was not Bobby, but someone. Doing something for someone else 68.
For reasons you can probably guess, the talks were frank kept secret by the Kennedy family until now. Jacqueline's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, said the interviews reflect a difficult time, but that his mother had always been very fond of Johnson and his wife.
