Squidoo was designed to help you raise money (awareness too) for a worthy cause.
Squidoo is a free web platform that makes it easy for you (or your donors or anyone who supports your cause) to earn attention, day after day, by building useful, interesting, personalized web pages. We've found that attention also leads to you earning money. In this case, donations for your cause. In fact, Squidoo has donated over a million dollars to charity.
And it works. Sometimes in big ways, sometimes in little ongoing ways.
For example, in December 2011 our community's good writing empowered us to donate $50,000 to the Acumen Fund for the holidays. To celebrate our 5 year anniversary in 2010, we gave $275,000 to charity in one big splash. That felt great.
But more important is the little and often uncelebrated work done for charity every day. Month in and month out, our Squidoo community makes donations to any one of 100 different nonprofit organizations. For free.
This page will explain how we're able to do this, and how you're able to take part as a supported nonprofit on Squidoo. Nonprofit organizations can sign up to get supported by Squidoo and receive free donations. Just a few of our current Squidoo-supported nonprofits include (there are hundreds!): Acumen Fund, Children's Defense Fund, Covenant House, DonorsChoose, Earthjustice, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF), KIVA, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, March of Dimes, Oxfam America, Polly Klaas Foundation, Room to Read, Save the Children and tons more. Some national, some local, all doing good work.
